Hello all

I am looking into Ergo has a company as we looking to get some infrastructure work (replacing servers and virtualising) and the initial conversations I have had with Ergo have been promising. Just want to know if they are any good and come recommended.

We are also looking at the VLE they are selling (a Learning gateway solution called Scholaris). Is anyone using this and would you recommend it?

Thanks

When I dealt with Ergo, they were far too interested in selling me Server Virtualization and Hitachi SANs than listening to what I wanted. That was last year and the contact has moved on, so things might well be okay for you. But having said that, they guy before him was keen on flogging this stuff too. Targets must be met! Be prepared to have your coffers emptied.

I wanted 110 laptops and I foolishly said I wanted to pay no more than £400 each. The price - a magical £399 each! I got much better quality laptops from Lenovo at £320.

They're a British company (I think) and they're still going, so they can't be too bad, eh... surely...?

I have been dealing with Ergo for some time now and have never found them to be pushy sellers and there support, Project management, installation and willingness to provide what you want to be great. They helped me install 5 new servers, 3 SAN’s and migrate away from an RM network about 2 years ago. Sins then I have worked with Ergo to install a VLE and a couple of bespoke projects. They have also done a case study that you can read at:

We buy laptops from them, and apart from one glitch (see threads listed below) the kit has been OK.

However, we did ask them to tender for new IT Suite and server set up about three years ago now. Sent a detailed spec of the type of kit we wanted. They didn't make it to shortlist as they (in our opinion) undersized our server spec. We did go back to them and query it, but they thought their spec was sufficient. Maybe we were wrong...

Possibly look at related threads that come up below for a few other opinions.
