I am the sole IT bod in school, looking after 850+ users, 3 curriculum servers, 1 internet cache server, 1 D2D2T backup server. There are 200+ workstations on the network plus 25 interactive Whiteboards and associated kit and 25 teacher laptops. I work 35hpw looking after the curriculum side of things but also support the SIMS and admin if required.

I also oversee the Learning Platform and maintain the school website.

Crikey! SLT getting high value for their money out of you for sure.

Thanks for all the excellent responses folks. A very interesting variation in what is done and expected.

We have one curriculum server, 57 desktops and 9 staff laptops, 8 IWBs. Admin have one PC acting as a server, 3 desktops and one laptop. I'm in house, 15 hours per week with occasional extra hours as needed. I'm officially only in charge of curriculum (LEA do Admin) but help the office initially with any problems and pass up to LEA if necessary.

Up till now I was on my own completely (well, apart from edugeek!!), but we are in the process of getting an additional support contract of 1 hour a week from a local secondary school, which looks like it will be very helpful (and crucial as curriculum server warranty expires).

You definitely qualify as one of the 'quads' - or maybe my twin as you do almost exactly the same job as me in about the same sized school - mine is just a little bigger with 75 desktops, 15 staff laptops and 12 IWBs.

I also do a further 15 hours at another school with 40 desktops, 12 IWBs etc.

It's impossible to do justice to both jobs and now that there are two, I can't even stay and do extra hours very often.

I love it but I do wish I had one job rather than two.
