We have been working toward this for some time. In our case, I went through it with the Deputy (and head of IT) and he took on the responsibilty of driving it forward.

I believe this is something that needs to come from management as there is a lot of non-technical stuff in there.

Hey mate, I got through the majority of it for my previous school, filling out the bit online isn't even half the battle from my experience.

Theres a lot of work going through thoroughly what needs are being met, what needs to be done to improve it and how. I'll have a look tonight in my folders to see if I have anything you may want to use. I actually created a template for writing conclusions to each section that may be helpful. It is a lot of work but if you have the time and are willing to take it on it's a very worthwhile experience.

Unfortunately all my work was tossed to the side and dismissed as "unimportant" at the time so I then handed my notice in :)

:( How sad, sorry to hear all your work went unappreciated..

The ICT mark definitely needs to be driven by management.

As long as you view the ict mark as a process to bring about a positive change then it can be extremely worthwhile. If you or you smt view the process as a boxticking exercise then don't waste your time.

We are working towards the ICT mark, hopefully for next year.

One of my 2 schools has the mark and working towards the other should have it by April/May time.

Worked with the Head and the ICT Team.

Both my primaries have achieved this in the last couple of years. The Matrix was a lot of work (I left that to the IT Coordinator).

Everything needs to be evidenced and then they come out and "Inspect" your school for a day. Nothing too scarey but nice kudos when you get it :)

I feel that it should be about the same amount of work if the school is running well.

It's probably more difficult to get a large school running well, more teachers hence more requirements

We are working towards this hopefully to get the ICT mark early next year.

It is driven by Senior Leadership down - you can't really just fill all the boxes in yourself.

You then have an assessor come in once your ready for a tour of the school and interviews with SLT, pupils, etc.

Yes it needs a lead from management but you would be amazed at how many things can be ticked off the huge list. You definately will need support and guidance from the top dogs but there is plenty of things in there that would need a technical mind to make sure everything is correct.

I was hands on with the teaching and the technical during my work on the self-review framework so i had a better idea of what was going on there. Have a look through though because any help with the process is always very welcome. If the school doesn't already have an IT aim you could always make some questionnaires for staff/parents/students as to what they would like to see happen with ICT in your school, how effective current equipment/teaching is etc.

There really is plenty to do, and it's always better to have more evidence then lack of, if and when the ICT Mark person walks through your doors.

Hope this helps

Well its all a bit scrappy here, trying to get some sort of order....

It's a 3 form Primary school which everyone regards as "big" but coming from a bigger secondary school i think its rather small...cant think how many kids there are...

So maybe when ive got things running a little smoother i could definately be something to consider...

We achieved the award last year.

It was driven by the IT teaching staff and supported by an Assistant Principal.

Us techies didn't see the inspector at all during their visit.
