Broken start menu panel

We are having a weird problem where half the start panel is missing (emulated on the attached graphic)

 

Has anyone seen this weird problem before?

only when a user's profile has "pooped" up.

 

try resseting the profile

Have you done a group policy change recently?

 

There is a section within the GPO that allows you to remove "Programs Pinned" and "Recently accessed programs" from the start menu.

 

I also assume that you have removed the username from the menus on purpose.

Yep, looks like GPO settings to me. Track down the GP that's doing it with the GPMC.

Hmm no group policy changes recently,

 

Unfortunately, the documents are in the profile (not redirected) so makes resetting them hard (staff profile, lots of junk there) we are working on redirecting the docs at the minute.

 

Looks like I will have to sort the documents / desktop redirection then wipe this users profile out.
