Anybody had much experience of 2X as a thin client platform? We are looking at implementing a thin client architecture and I trying to evaluate all of the solutions possible.

Does anyone use just terminal services?

We use 2x here, along with 2 windows 2003 Terminal Servers, one for the library (10 Clients) and one for the Staff room (4 Clients)

It has worked very well and no real issues since I set it up, the only Pain is it doesnt work with 2008 Terminal Services once the terminal server is licenced (it works before it is licenced but I dont know why)

We used Thin Station which is opensource :: Thinstation - a light, full-featured Linux thin client OS ::. It worked really well giving you the option of running diskless machines. We used it as a stop gap to keep old machines running until we could afford new ones. As an indicator we used a 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 (single core) with 2GB of RAM and that ran 20 machines quite happily. We used Server 2003 so I don't know about 2008.

I evaluated 2X and ThinStation - and decided on ThinStation in the end.

Ok, you don't get the fancy front end for deploying things, but you shouldn't need to make changes to your images very often.

The reason we chose this was simply because it was free - even with Citrix clients (which is what we use).

I use 2x ThinClientServer and 2x Loadbalancer here.

Can't fault it at all and have converted lots of old machines; also use HP thin clients with it also.. the loadbalacer works very well too.

We've deployed 25 clients and currently only have one appserver, although never would all clients be used concurrently. They work very well. We're looking to expand our thin client network as part of a wider Virtualisation Project and I'm looking at the options.

What is peoples' experience with 2X and program resource sharing? For example, does it load many instances of a program or share one session? Due to the huge price difference, I assume it's not as efficient at Citrix. How many clients have people efficiently got on one 2X server? That could be a good benchmark.
