lionsl2005 Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Hi guys, i am a new comer, i just started to practice on network. please help me on this question, when you login to the network but gets the following error “The system cannot log you on now because the domain "NAME" is not available” Q: Explain how you might resolve this problem? 2. office printer, a HP LaserJet 4200N is leaving black marks on the page when printing. Q: What do you do? please help me.

Plug it back into the network Then check the DNS settings on it are correct. 2. office printer, a HP LaserJet 4200N is leaving black marks on the page when printing. Q: What do you do? Blow it out with a can of compressed air. 1

That basically means the computer can't talk to the domain controller. If it happens on one computer it probably network cable as p'monkey says. If all it is all computers it could be the server or network issue. 1

If this is on a laptop, it could mean the wireless network is out of range. office printer, a HP LaserJet 4200N is leaving black marks on the page when printing. What sort of black marks? Like spare toner? Are you using re-filled toner cartridges? We found ours had a tendency to leak toner - might want to find something to vacuum it up with as breathing in fine particulate dust isn't good for you. If you mean like black score marks along the sheet, then you need to adjust the tension on the paper roller at the back, seemingly - we had a 4600N with this problem. -- David Hicks Edited November 16, 2008 by dhicks 1

EduTech Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) when you login to the network but gets the following error “The system cannot log you on now because the domain "NAME" is not available” Normally Means the network cable has been unplugged and the computer now cannot connect to the domain controller. although i have come across this when a computer has fallen of the domain and in that case you need to log on to the machine locally and re-add the machine to the domain. If so, I reckon that's where the problem is. Our 4600N had this same problem, too - switched back to HP cartridges, no more problems. -- David Hicks

Leaky cartridges, shadowing and smudges, and the colour ones don't print good colours. Went back to originals cartridges, and no more problems.

There is another possibility that nobody has mentioned - that the domain server is switched off or has failed. If this was the case you would be getting this on all your computers not just one.

I know its online (other machines work), so its a local (to the machine) problem" Which case you check wires, if all up, get onto a local account and see what's going on with the config.
