localzuk Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Has anyone ever watched 'Garth Marengi's Dark Place' It was a spoof of a 70's drama series, and a lot of the cast from the IT crowd (including Moss and Renham Jr) are in it. Yeah. The only character I liked was the one played by the guy who plays Moss. And I dislike the actual show. Too silly for me. (Staplers on strings attacking people, egg soup, scotch mist, far too weird!!!)

As has Man to Man with Dean Lerner. Now that was funny, unlike the 3rd series of the IT crowd so far.
Sylv3r Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I was disappointed. They wasn't a lot of IT links, it could have been a standard comedy based in a office block.
torledo Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 It was good, not as good as series one but still good. I'm just not keen on the new boss guy. Never liked his acting style. Moss is brilliant, as always. I think douglas as the boss has some ace lines.........the bit about losing the pension money, were LOL moments for me. The whole gun storyline was a bit forced....not all that funny. The thing about a character like douglas or the chris morris character is that, like the Alan Johnson character in Peep Show, they are such wonderfully absurb characters that their cameo appearances tend to be the highlight of a series. As soon as they become more central to the success of a comedy then it doesn't work. Chris morris as renholm sr. was superb in those cameos......watched the visite of the japanese businessman from a previous series where renholm presents him with a pair of doc martens and it was hilarious. I suspect the more lines the douglas character gets the more the 'joke' starts to wear a bit thin. As for the first episode as a whole, other than the bits with douglas there were no LOL moments for me.......i'm wondering if it's not a case of this series being funny as six seperate episodes condensed into one such is the lack of genuinely funny bits. It has to get better than episode 1...shurely.
Antp Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Omg Great first episode! 'i have a gun' [nomedia]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Fet0SCt7uGg[/nomedia]
Pyroman Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Was fairly funny but i'm of the same opinion that it's an office based comedy program rather than an 'IT' comedy program but then again the stuff we find funny with (l)users wouldn't entertain the masses so i suppose we're just not a big enough audience *sniff*
RabbieBurns Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Id always wondered what the blue screen was in the opening sequence, i took a screen shot http://www.peninsulafm.com/vlcsnap-2719451.png

powdarrmonkey Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) That amuses me, I always assumed it was a Windows BSOD. But no, it's a Redhat (or derivative, but looks like RHEL to me) machine dying, in a very ugly way. Producers are weird. Imagine embarassing RHEL in such an unscrupulous way, stripping it of all vestiges of dignity by revealing kernel panics. Very ungentlemanly. Edited January 14, 2009 by powdarrmonkey

Yes it mentions process Anaconda which is the RHEL / Fedora install program. Is that a kernel panic? Looks like the install failed and its shutting down, sending kill signals, disabling swap etc Edited January 14, 2009 by somabc
powdarrmonkey Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) Well that was my first thought, but I've never known anaconda mount swap on a physical drive during installation, though I suppose its not impossible. Just strikes me as a bit risky to assume the swap is trustworthy. On closer inspection though, I've decided its FC4. Look at the kernel flags during the core dump. powdarrmonkey Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 That looks probable, I'm sure I've never seen anaconda mount arbitrary swaps before, but hey. I still think they spent far too much time trying to produce a crash, would have been much easier with Windoze.
somabc Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/technology/Geek_Love.gif The geekiness of this thread is now off the charts... PS I didn't know that 'Moss' directed all these music videos!? ITCrowd Edited January 14, 2009 by somabc
