I was about to get an antec psu for my home machine to cater for my new 8800gt card. I read a topic on the FFS forum regarding Antec and i am now scared of frying my board so is Enermax Liberty 500 Watt PSU any good?

I bought one of the modular Corsair jobbies - totally wicked - but not a cheap option - it was one of the few at the time that could support 6 sata feeds and has been stable as a rock in my home server.

basically i have a decent HP dx2400 and want to upgrade my gpu (bottleneck) to 8800gt and my current psu is only 300w. So if I went for a Corsair 620W Ultra Quiet PSU SLI & Crossfire Ready, will it be ok then?

Cheers

Your new GFX should require no more than 26A-27A at +12V rail, depending the brand/model. If you want the best of the best you need to see into PC Power and Cooling. They used to make power supplies for extreme systems much before other companies even started thinking about it. First company to make 1KW power supply and and use multiple rails.

At the moment they are up to 1.2KW although your new 8800GT will be more than happy by using this;)

Seasonics are good, so are Sparkle PSUs, though not so common this side of the pond. Even with the 8800 in, you'll be fine with a good 350w PSU - you don't need a monster psu, just one that isn't crap.
