SmoothWall Temp Ban Issue

Hi All!

 

Having an issue at the moment with the smoothwall temporary ban, how long does a temporary ban take to start? ive added myself to the ban list and its taken up to 30 mins+ to take effect,

 

Any ideas why this happens? is it something i can fix or is it just how it is?

I'll ask the devs - it is a new feature, so I am not overly well up on it. Maybe I will ban one of our sales guys... anyone want to vote on who?

 

As far as I am aware, the only thing that should alter the time taken is the "auth timeout" - in order to reduce the load on your AD, auth caches credentials for a bit - default is 10 mins, though, so if you'd have said "can take up to 10 mins" I'd have been more suspicious IYSWIM.

I'm told that group information is only cached for a few mins (unlike the auth cache, this can't really be tweaked).

 

If it is definitely not an issue of the user getting cached pages out of the browser, and you are seeing >5 mins delay, let me know (along with who you are!) and I will create a ticket with tech support.
