64bit client (citrix) but only 32bit print server + driver

Is it possible to have a printer hosted on a 2003 32bit server to be used by a 64bit 2008 server? I havent got round to migrating the print server yet but if this isnt possible it's going to cause a problem with printing from Citrix :(

I was under the impression that vaguely 32bit stuff can run on 64 bit, however when I install the printer on the print server with the 32bit driver, the 2008 64 bit citrix server wont connect/install it.

I've tried installing the 64 bit driver on the 32 bit server (that's how much I was clutching at straws) but it wouldnt instakk

32Bit and 64Bit Windows require different drivers. For your reference (on your printer server), navigate to Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes

Right click in any empty space on the window and choose Server Properties > Drivers

This will tell you what driver(s) are available and for which platforms.

Thanks Michael.

For reference you can get around it by adding the printer to the server as you normally do, with the appropiate driver for the host OS, then on the sharing tab there is an "additional" drivers button. Check x64 drivers and it will go and install the driver. 2003 x64 drivers seem to work OK on 2008 x64 servers anyway and I suspect Vista x64 for those who enjoy a challenge. I think for 2003 to be aware of 64bit drivers you should be running at least service pack 1.

Yes you're on the right track, but if the drivers are not available to download then I don't know what else to suggest, other than write to the manufacturer!
