Ric_ Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Here's the scenario... newly built Server 2003 x64 server with a fresh install of WDS. I need to set this up in mixed mode for the time being so I go to the legacy mode tool to do the initial config. Here's the problem... the server asks for the XP disc which I duly give it and then it decides it wants the Server 2003 x64 installation disc. I put that in and it says it wants a 'win51is' file. This file does not exist and any of my Server installation discs and is nowhere within my Server installation folder. HELP!
plexer Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 installing Windows 2003 R2 Small Business Server Says that win51is is standard server 2003. Ben
Gatt Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 System Admin Tips: WIN51IS.SP1 This link explains this a bit better Basically its a product Identifier (Win51IS.Sp1 = Server 2003 Standard with SP1, etc) Is this file on your CD (usually the root of the CD)?
Michael Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 When you slipstream a service pack into Windows Server, WIN51IS.SP1 or WIN51IS.SP2 is created. If you make a copy of the i386 folder to your hard drive (for example), make sure you also include either of the two files within this i386 folder.
Ric_ Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 The problem is that the file is not on the CD. We are talking about a genuine MS media kit here too!
SYNACK Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 You could try manually slipstreaming an older xp disk which should result in those files being produced.
