on both our server room and network management office. Very easy to install and configure.

The door strike is £10 from screwfix.

 

The rfid access panels can be had off ebay for £13.99

 

All you need is a yale style rim lock and a 12v psu.

Right; we were installing in response to an audit - so it was best to go for brand new kit in our case!

We have Paxton net2 on about 13 doors in the school now, and it is constantly expanding.

 

At the moment our server room is just protected by an Assa lock. The fact that it is never locked (people have to go through the room to get to resources) doesn't seem to bother anyone but me. I've mentioned that we're legally supposed to keep it locked and only allow access to certain people (ie. my boss, me, the head). As it stands everyone has access... Not good.

So long as you aren't using the v4.07 version of the software - it has been known to randomly crash and take the database with it. (It happened to us).

Ive been wanting to fit something like this for a while... What are the legalities exactly as loads of people potentially have access to ours.

We outsource all our alarms / security / cctv and access control to Chubb. Have a mixture of palm scanners, mag stripe and rfid entry.

SALTO Networked Locking System - Education

 

We have 170 key phob locks and 11 networked locks - and the system runs verry well here.

At present we have many rooms with 4-digit electronic keypads. This causes multiple headaches. Namely:

Each lock can only have 1 code, and if the code needs to be changed it has to be done manually at each door.

Many Staff make little-or-no effort to key in the PIN code with any form of discression, and the students soon learn the code. Once the students know the code it spreads like wildfire and then the rooms then become unsecure. I've even witnessed Staff shouting out the code to a student by the door to open it for them. Staff also constantly forget the codes so we keep getting asked what they are.

 

I'm looking for a proximity based (not PIN keypads, unless this is also used in conjunction with proximity cards/fobs) system which can be setup for lots of doors (i'd like to increase our number of controlled doors from 6 to about 12), with lots of users (approx 150), all controlled from a central location (preferably via PC based software). Having the flexibility to allow certain staff access only to certain doors would be a bonus. As would being able to control these for certain days/times aswell..

If a card/fob is lost it can easily be deactivated to stop the "finder" using it anywhere.

 

Will the Paxton or ACT systems discussed in previous posts do this?

If so at what sort of cost (ballpark) would we be talking?

I looked at the SALTO website, but it looks expensive...

Obviously cost is a big thing. Cheap RFID door locks off eBay fill this criteria but I don't think they'll offer any of the other essential criteria listed above.

Or is there somethere else out there that anyone knows could do what I need?
