Paxton will do what you want, and a fair amount more. The cost can be quite high - the last 2 doors cost us about £1000 each to add to the system, including cabling costs. But it can vary from £500 - £1000 depending on where they are going, and how the wind is blowing.

Net2 from Paxton here for us. Only got a turnstile and a car barrier on it at the moment, but has been working pretty much flawlessly for us for 4 or 5 years.

Can the paxton kit be done over structured cabling? (ie UTP+POE) only they seem to talk about serial links on their website to the various readers/control unit:confused:

The system works via it's own cat5 link, not via TCP/IP switching gear. You can make many little 'local' networks for it, which involves buying adapters to utilise your existing infrastructure - and they are about £150 each I believe. And then the system has to somehow be connected via RS232 (serial) to a machine to manage it.

I looked at the SALTO website, but it looks expensive...

Well we've managed to convince the Bursar that the Salto locks were a good idea. 5 installed this week and working well! :D

Our Server room security currently consists of a lock with no handle. The idea being that with no handle everyone else will ignore it. Rather silly if you ask me. The security is one of many things that frustrates me at the minute. I cant see it changing though.
