imiddleton25 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Have added Page Viewer web part in Moss 2007 site no problem inside network but was hoping to use this for home folder access from home without moving the large amounts of data actually into Sharepoint. Anyone got a way to do this?
meastaugh1 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 By home folder do you mean home directory, or My Documents? I'm currently trialling the web part from Salamandersoft and it looks good so far. SalamanderSoft Limited - My Documents Webpart
imiddleton25 Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 Yes thats exactly what i want top do How is this as a solution??
meastaugh1 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I've only been evaluating it for a week, but it looks good so far, installation of the web part was easy. The developer has already fixed an issue I brought to his attention.
Sylv3r Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I will be purchasing this, this week also. From what I have seen of the demo its exactly what we are looking for.
benIT Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Salamander Web part to access My Documents from anywhere is well worth the money, it also works in the same format as other sharepoint document libraries, giving smooth integration!!! thats worth the money Users need something easy to use, or they wont use it!!
imiddleton25 Posted October 19, 2008 Author Posted October 19, 2008 I agree it works just as users would like after testing this last week we will be purchasing it we need more solutions like this that just work.
adhutton Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Anyone found a cheaper/free version which works? We need this, but £500 is way too expensive! Andrew
RobFuller Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 One of the best purchases we ever made for our students.
mattmoo Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 We actually purchased this but unfortunately due to the limitations that Richard kindly displays on his website, we have found it to be a little difficult to use in practice. The downloading and uploading of files does not meet the user expectations and so we have had to remove it. We have had several users say that they have "lost" work when it is in fact been in there "temp" folder although this may just be a training issues as we never trained the users with this particular web part. Not sure if this has changed and I know this is something that was on SalamanderSofts list of things to do. Thanks Matt
Sylv3r Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 We have come across the same limitations as you descrive - but staff and students still continue to use it happily. If an update was to be released that would be really beneficial especially for the odd user that doesn't follow the instructions that I have added to the webpart page.
