Roaming profile for single user!

We use OneDrive and local profiles and all fine except for one member of staff who constantly complains that when she has to use a different computer it takes her “hours” to sort things and as a result “impacts on productivity”

 

normally they  has an intune laptop with a dock in their office but periodically they have to logon to a domain joined desktops.

 

because of we use one drive I can’t redirect any profile settings as it breaks and Microsoft have acknowledged this.

 

as all known folders are redirected to one drive, isn’t still possible to have a profile redirected to a network location just for them?

 

No Matter how hard I’ve tried to explain why we use local profiles and how roaming profiles break with one drive, they insist it is sorted or escalated (not sure who they want to escalate it to)

 

the urge to resist using a baseball bat is becoming increasing harder and harder!!!

 

any advice welcomed.

What are the "things" being referenced? Most often it's things like favourites which can by sync'd with browsers now, or open tabs which again can be sync'd. 

If it's something stupid like a folder/view setting you could always create a custom policy for her

Can't think of much nowadays that you can't replicate without a roaming profile, so would be worth trying to narrow down the specifics as to what's needed

This laptop is it domain joined or is it personal jus managed by InTune? Is this person unique with their use case, have any specific software that others do not? Does it occur when they move to and from or only when they move back to a certain device.

 

If they move from one domain joined PC to the other is there still a delay?

Well……. when I try and pin them down to exactly what their issue is,  I just get “my profile must be wrong or have an issue”. And in fact when logging on to a different computer she wants to manually add a secondary email account (yes I know I can add this automatically, but wants email notifications on this account and this is the only way it works) and a couple of other things. - this is the main issue.

 

they do this once in a blue moon!

 

she doesn’t like the answers she had been given so is trying to kick up a fuss as her favourite phrase is “I’m working at capacity” and having to redo “her profile” is having a “impact on productivity”

 

I have point out it is the same for all users including myself.

 

i am right in saying trying to redirect her domain profile to a network location and the use of one drive won’t solve this.

Sounds like they are just being a pain tbh. What does she need a secondary account for? I wouldn't entertain the idea of attempting the roaming profile. To echo Steve's comments most things are synchronised now especially in my workplace. Makes it much easier if there's ever a hardware failure.

OK how about you add the email address automatically then use power automate to send a notification to their main email when the second account receives new mail.  I did this for a member of staff who wanted something similar and it works fine.

I’d make sure the share permissions are correct and keep the profile as small as possible, otherwise logons can become slow or the profile may eventually corrupt. If they mainly need their documents, desktop and browser settings across PCs, I’d probably use OneDrive Known Folder Move and Edge sync instead.
