How do others deal with Offsite devices, could be Laptop or iPads, for filtering?

We use Talkstraight with Netsweeper, Senso and use Jamf for Management

TS in theory have a way but seems unlikely

Senso has an App but in effect you seem to Block Safari and use the App, it also does'nt tie in with our general filter - Netsweeper

TIA

Hi

We have partially setup AOVPN for staff laptops, as soon as they connect to any other network it establishes the connection and routes traffic back to our Sophos XG. For staff, the laptops behave exactly like they would do in school.

Talkstraight and NetSweeper you can simply turn on the PROXY server and it filters, however you also need to make sure you include something that means the user can't simply turn the PROXY back off!

We're with LGFL and install the "HomeProtect" client.

Our LGfL Netsweeper has a "HomeProtect" version that is installed on the device. Free for LGfL schools.

Check with your current filter provider for on-site to see if they ave a similar product.

HomeProtect seems a bit "meh".  It doesn't provide (easily) for different filtering for pupils and teachers, and has to be maintained separately from the school filtering product, its own reporting etc.

Having said that, it does provide something for nothing which is to be commended.

Agreed on every point. Also, filter logs are only retained for 2 weeks, so make sure those scheduled reports are running if you want *any* insight.

It's still better than using Sophos Web Control which we used as the fact that HomeProtect is free for us was not made clear in any promotional material.

To not derail this too much as this is definitely something SBB can handle, but for our homeprotect stuff, happy to hear some ideas/what to do different via DM or support case :)
