Has anyone else run into ClassCharts login issues today?

We’ve had reports since around midday that Office 365 SSO has stopped working. From what we can tell, this isn’t an outage but seems to be a change on Tes/ClassCharts’ side, possibly linked to their “Universal Account” rollout.

A couple of things we’ve noticed:

  • Office 365 login no longer works
  • The SSO button is still visible on the login page, which is confusing users
  • Password reset links appear to expire almost immediately after being received

Standard email/password login does still work (if users already know their password), so we’ve switched our internal links over as a workaround.

We’ve contacted ClassCharts but haven’t had a useful response yet.

Is anyone else seeing the same behaviour, or had any clearer comms from them about this change?

Cheers

Yes, we have been having the same issue

Office 365 either gets stuck in a loop and just redirects you to the login page

The Class Charts account still work

I haven't tried a password reset yet so I'm not sure if we are getting this issue as well

This is to do with Universal accounts being setup:-

Class Charts has been linked to your Tes Universal Account. Please use your Universal Account password to login to Class Charts from now on.

To make life easier for you, while maintaining the highest levels of security, we’re rolling out the Tes Universal Account across a number of Tes products over the coming months.

A Universal Account has been set up for you using the same email and password you use to log in to the last Tes product used.

What is a Universal Account?

A Tes Universal Account is a single common login, that will (in time) link all your Tes products, allowing you to access them in one place using the same password.

What’s next?

Continue to log in to your Tes products as usual.

As we link your Universal Account to more of your Tes products, you’ll receive a notification, letting you know that we’re automatically linking your accounts.

You can then use the same login details to access all of your Tes products.

Tes Products

We’ll gradually be linking the products below.

Class Charts
Provision Map
Parents' Meetings
Develop
My Concern
If you use any of these products, you’ll receive further communication about linking them to your Universal Account shortly.

Would have been nice to have been forewarned, also the password reset emails dont seem to work, they just say expired if you click the supplied link, anyone else seeing this?

Strange. Ours was doing exactly the same thing this morning. But it started working OK again at about 1pm and has been OK since.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately, some of our customers are encountering an issue that impacts how they log in and access core features in our products. We are working on an urgent solution and are anticipating that this will be resolved by the end of play today, Tuesday 21/04/26.

Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.

Many Thanks,

Staff need to be able to log on via 365/Entra/Google ID accounts. I don't care what their back-end is doing.   They also shouldn't need to have people log in with their back-end username and password. They have all the email addresses, just match on those.  Also same for students just use 365/Google auth by default (though I accept a pin is easy and necessary in some cases).

..and they certainly shouldn't be breaking it so frequently.

It's always bugged me that staff accounts aren't automatically linked via SSO. When we first rolled it out we had to send instructions to staff on how to link. Such a pain in the backside

and aye, same with students. We gave up and made a power automate that emails students lost PINs but they should just be SSO'd

Morning all, well it seems to be working again. No reply to my emails from yesterday and without any status page we will just have to guess that its fixed and won't be going away any time soon.

Cheers everyone
