AlphamaleZed Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I am excited to see that apple is launching there own MDM with loads of features and the best part of it is that is free. April 14th is the release date and my Jamf renewal is towards the end of the year hoping to save a chunk a cash to buy more Devices rather than licenses. https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/03/introducing-apple-business-a-new-all-in-one-platform-for-businesses-of-all-sizes/ https://www.macrumors.com/2026/03/24/apple-unveils-apple-business/ 1
itskdog Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Hopefully this is expanded to replace ASM as well as ABM. Will save schools a lot of money.
synaesthesia Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Good god..... First a repairable, affordable device and now this? Well, I did wake up to ice on the windscreen this morning despite being in T-shirt last week - so hell has indeed frozen over. I expect to see a portly pink mammal fly past my office window shortly. Maybe Apple are actually waking up after more than 2 decades of snoozing, lack of innovation and form over function induced issues. More please! 1
jthompson Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Oooh. Will be interesting to see whether an edu SKU appears, and what upselling there will be.

Brimstone Posted April 2 Posted April 2 The MDM elements of this will be very cut down in terms of MDM tools and only really designed for iPadOS, don't expect to be able to manage a huge fleet of macPS devices with this.
e-class Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Does anyone know if this is definitely coming to Apple School Manager? Have confirmed that someone else can see if it in their company Apple Business Manager, but I can't see any changes in our school ASM.
nadeem Posted April 20 Posted April 20 My guess would be tomorrow (21 April) as that is when we will have new terms and conditions to agree to

I would assume if it's coming, ITSE would be the place it gets announced

Brimstone Posted April 21 Posted April 21 If you are all schools then I don't understand all the excitement, there are (at present) no plans for this to appear in Apple School Manager, Apple Business Manager only 3

Why would you pay a third party company that supports Apple where as Apple offer it for free and give third party companies the rights to use it? Its a good move if your not using apple classroom and saves alot.

Firstly, the MDM feature set for Apple Business is lacking in so many features when compared to Jamf School or Jamf Pro, Secondly as a school I very much doubt you have either of these to allow you to verify and enrol into Apple Business... DUNS Number Company Registration Number VAT Number

DUNS Number Company Registration Number VAT Number I already have an account with Apple business and school? Already registered and ready to go I setup the branding for the school just haven’t had a chance to set up the MDM yet. what features exactly are missing? We don’t use the school and class parts.
