Office Pro Plus - OVS - Deployment

Hi,

 

We currently use Office 2016 here which is installed on all staff devices (Approximately 60) and all pupil laptops (100).

Due to security patches and support ending in October 2025 we are currently in the process of signing up for M365 Pro Plus using an OVS agreement.

 

Can anyone offer any advice on how best to deploy this to devices via group policy? Can an XML file be used to automatically sign in a user when they open office apps on their device?

 

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

There are other things you'll need in place for them to auto sign-in. These include settings in your Entra Connect Sync app and the Local Intranet trusted zone settings that are also used by M365 to sign in with a browser.

You can use Office Customization Tool - Microsoft 365 Apps admin center to make an xml to customize the install by what ever your usual msi install solution is. As for SSO 3s-gtech is correct, you'll need a hybrid entra set up with the local devices hybrid joined.
