jcollings Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Myself and my team all have newish PC's of a reasonable spec. 1Gb LAN cards into the core switch, 4Gb RAM - 80Gb primary drive with 320Gb secondary + dual monitors. I also have a MacBook which I quite like.
torledo Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Dell latitude D430, U7700, 2GB ram. Dual monitors, wireless KM, media slice to enable dvd drive (I've found having one machine for the desktop and laptop is really useful - works bloody well) runs fine for xp Also blackberry curve How are you getting on with the D430 really ?? The reason i ask is that i'm thinking that's going to be one of my next work laptop options... I'd imagine the media bay does come in very useful when at the desk, and it is extremely portable....but what's the battery like and the performance with the ULV processor ? I'd imagine it's very sluggish if someone is coming from using a santa rosa core 2 duo laptop. I've had acer and lenovo work laptops in he past....not a big fan of having a desktop as a work pc although must admit the performance does come in handy from time to time. Agree that a laptop with dock is probably the ideal work 'pc'.....
