Teacher access to students' Google Drives

Hi,

 

Is there a way to give teachers access to their students' Google Drive areas?  This might not be required for all teachers - but perhaps just the one responsbile for Computing curriculum.  The teachers are concerned that the students could be creating files/documents/etc that they have no sight of and they have some concerns around this.

 

Is there an easy way to do this?

I have Securly scanning pupils' Drives and pick up on files and images that should not be on the school network.

A standard monitoring solution should pick any thing up as it is created.

It's not such a case of snooping - more just having sight of what the pupils are storing in their Google Drives!  Surely that's a valid thing to be able to do?!

The documents might not necessarily contain anything inappropriate - just perhaps more off-topic from what they should be doing!

 

@Danp - is that Securly Classroom you are using for scanning the pupil drives?

It's part of the Securly package, we have Aware, Classroom and Filter. I also have some filters that block certain file extensions too (.htm etc) then they can't run offline games.

Admins would need to use gam or Google Vault to search for files and content in users' Drive accounts, but you almost certainly don't want to be making either of those available to regular staff.

 

What you're after is a Google Drive equivalent of Gmail's delegated access feature, but no such thing exists.
