Edge & Seamless SSO

Unsure if this is by default , But google doesnt have much of an answer

 

We use Seamless SSO within edge , allows automatic login to websites such as "ShowMyHomework" , "Sam Learning" and "Office.com"

 

What i have noticed , if a user has never used the computer before and does not have a local profile stored, the first login does not work with Seamless SSO ( They are prompted for their username/email ) But ! the password is seamless .

 

If they log out and back into the same machine seamless SSO works fine for both username and password.

 

I am assuming its something to do with the profile being created and specific things being added to the edge appdata folder ?

Do you really mean Seamless Single Sign On?  With modern implementations of Windows, iOS, MacOs, Android with a "current" version of Entra Sync and Entra Connect, Seamless Single Sign on is not required and generally should be disabled.

We have the same behaviour as yourself. Never found a fix for it

Works well here, can't say i've seen that issue, but as psydii says, make sure you're not using SSSO. That's only required for legacy OS's.

 

For reference, my edge Computer and User policies attached incase it's of any help. (Haven't actually looked at my user settings in quite a while, probably need a tweak....but what isn't broken etc etc) EDIT: Oh i cut off the "User Configuration bar, the bottom image is user)

I wonder if the setting "Configure whether a user always has a default profile automatically signed in with their work or school account" makes a difference?

 

We don't have that set, might be something to play with.

Apparently it worked well in July and suddenly stopped when the kids came back .

 

I went through the Azure connect tool to make sure everything was ok , I then reinput the SSO details of an administrator.

 

And now it seems like its working for first logins !

 

How very bizzare .

We had the same issue, started in October.

Only just managed to fix it by installing the January 2026 build 22H238.

From what I can gather this is because of the Hardening of SSO and a few KBs to make Windows 10 compatible.

How ever those KBs seemed to be broken.
