Senso V2 - The Saga so far!

We've been using V2 since the start of term - it's not perfect - but overall an improvement over v1.

 

We're still having some niggly issues on the clients installing, showing it's working (on the device/services), but the device not appearing in Senso itself.  But it's hit and miss as to why this is happening.  Even to the point that if they navigate to a blocked site, it shows the Senso block screen - so senso is working, just not 100% - but at least from a filtering point of view it's doing it's job.. Can I just mention - this is a small issue, only about 20 or so devices out of 1500, but sadly nothing obvious so far as to what is causing the issue.  But Senso support are brilliant.

 

Also, what we found quite frustrating initially was there was no direct upgrade path from V1 to V2 - so we had to redevelop all our years old block/allow lists, rules and groups, etc.  BUT... that was actually a blessing in disguise as it meant we had the opportunity to clean house, change processes, etc. 

 

We're still getting requests for signs to be allowed/blocked - but that is purely from a T&L point of view where they want to use sites that are "games", but it easy enough to change.

 

We are also a Microsoft school - so love the Teams integration.

 

Only other criticism - which is being investigate by Senso dev's is that if you filter/search in List View and then click Thumbnail view, it doesn't "transfer" the filter/search across like V1 did - and it's incredibly annoying.

I'm just testing at the moment to compare with our existing tool (Classroom features only really).

Installing on 30 ish devices I had the same issue. Maybe 4 of those devices not showing up. Remove, reinstall, they would then be in the list.

I do like the Lite view for standard teachers

Also, just remembered another fun feature - well, it was in V1 we just never used it - was the switch integration user - so as an Admin i can change to a teacher and see what groups, users, etc. they see.

Yes, sorry my bad wording - It was in V1 we never used it as didn't know it existed - but use it a lot in V2 and is really effective and useful.

V2 thumbnail and remote control performance has massively improved since summer, was a very pleasant surprise when we came back

We moved from V1 to V2 early and have used it since last September - 2025.

 

Barring a couple of very minor issues - I don't think we really missed anything in v1 that wasn't available in v2 and we used the full enterprise package with the safeguarding modules etc on both.

terrible, nothing works really, devices randomly show and disappear, auto shutdown doesn't work properly also randomly shutdowns some PCs
