Simcfc73 Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 Hi, I've got 5 massive UPS batteries that I inherited the my new job. Can anyone recommend where to get them recycled. I don't think my local tip will like me taking them. I've still got the boxes but I cant see if APC takes them back the website says look at the docs and the docs says look at the web. Thanks in advance.
Alis_Klar Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 I assume you don't want to wait for your next WEEE collection?
MatthewL Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 Local tips do recycle batteries, maybe take them one at a time. Have a look for any local battery suppliers not your Halfords but your independents, they will take and recycle them, maybe a fee but shouldn't be an issue, I take mine to my local place where I buy all mine from button cell to car batteries to UPS ones!
3s-gtech Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 I took the last lot of refreshes (30 odd) to the scrap yard. Bit of a faff with transport, but got rid of them and got some money back. £1 each or so per battery. How you’d get that back to the school, not sure. They usually pay by cheque.
MatthewL Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 Never have enough here for scrap yards but its transfer to bank account these days for any scrap merchant.
