mitchell1981 Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 What is the correct way to add an ITT (trainee) to Bromcom so you can assign them the role of Classroom Teacher, but without setting them up a contract, as HR tell me they don't have a contract with us. Seems like the Roles settings, are only available under a contract. Becuase we pull through a lot of stuff with Salmander we want to have teaching and non-teaching staff properly set in Bromcom. Thank you.
PotNoodleTech Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 In 24 years we've never added an ITT into our MIS. They are just visitors they are not our staff.
Marci Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 (edited) Basically - you can't. This IS all driven by HR contracts & roles area. Defining them as Classroom Teacher would have (invalid) impacts on Workforce Census etc. Edited July 22, 2025 by Marci

BromcomOT Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 There is an option (as simpsonj mentioned) to not include staff in any census return. I've put a link to our guide on adding a staff member, where it will show the tick box for excluding them from the census. Hope this is helpful. https://docs.bromcom.com/knowledge-base/how-to-add-new-staff-member/
Ditto Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 Beware Google AI - see https://www.google.com/search?q=would+a+school+itt+get+included+in+dfe+staff+census where it says yes, normally included. But then https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/67bdc3c221d07694be8d76a0/2025_School_Workforce_Census_Specification_v1.pdf states clearly it is not necessary to include the same!
bobsmith Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 google ai had a really good set of instructions for bulk deactivating assessment templates in SIMS utilising the student bulk update tool. Only problem is it is just an AI hallucination and you can't do it. Anyway - as far as this topic - I would either create a user account (rather than a staff record) - or typically we would record them as a member of staff but tick "do not include in census". I'd capture emergency contact info as they were on site for weeks/months typically.
mdrabble Posted July 26, 2025 Posted July 26, 2025 (edited) Not Bromcom but we add ours to our MIS (SIMS) and then tick do not include in census and include the very barest of information. Found have to do it this way in order to be sync to sites such as Satchel in order to be assigned to classes etc Edited July 26, 2025 by mdrabble
