AutoSave missing Excel but present in Word (Office 2021 and 2024)

Odd one.
The AutoSave function works fine in Word and is present

However open Excel and the option isnt even available - the highlighted entry is completely AWOL

Meant to say was like this in Office 2021 so uninstalled and then installed Office 2024 - made no difference

I think AutoSave in PowerPoint and Excel is only in the M365 versions, not the LTSC versions.

Is it set to xlsx and not the open office equivalent file type?

I am beginning to wonder if this is true.

 

Problem is that I have Office365 on my work computer but the schools we support most only have Office 2021/2024 and have no plans to change licensing over to 365!

Yes it is
