studio Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Hi all I was just wondering what others were doing in terms of the English SAT. Traditionally we have used a formula to work out the English SAT and then set targets and track progress for English. However, given that P8 abolishes this - are people carrying on formulating an English SAT or just using reading? Just asking as I am currently sorting our new Y7 intake SAT data. Thanks
Blackcatowner Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 We decided to just use the Reading test mark
Mirmo Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Progress 8 uses Maths and Reading SATs as mentioned in the guidance released in March.
bigdannyb79 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 just a quick note the exception to progress 8 using just reading SAT is the 2016 cohort - so for one last year the combined eng fine level will be used. But when P8 comes in for real it is just reading fine level.
MattMitchell Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 We're using Reading+Maths for the APS, but showing staff a calculated overall English level as Reading+Writing, as part of their planning data
hschram Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Mirmo have you got a link to the guidance that you could share. I have read through a few different P8 guides and none of those specifically said which English data to use i.e. just reading or combined. Thanks in advance
Mirmo Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Hi, you can see it in annex C in the following more recent guidance than the one I mentioned previously. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/456438/Progress_8_school_performance_measure_2015_updated_August_2015.pdf
hschram Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Hi Mirmo, Sorry for the late reply it's been a bit mental here. I just wanted to say a massive thanks for the link and the information.
