Changes to Exams Performance Measures?
Mirmo replied to ajp233's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
Even if you use an external method for analysis it's still worth setting sims up correctly so that the sims aspects are populated with correct figures. They're so handy, you can even quickly select them in design reports too. Highest maths grade and average point score etc. -
Not yet. 5+E/M won't be published at all, each school will get their own percentage but not a national average.
-
New intake needs to be downloaded from ncatools, not K2S.
-
We use it to identify where our year 7 cohort were weak compared to how students did nationally in each area of the exam. It helps us identify where, if any, deficit of learning is.

BTEC and Performance Measures
Mirmo replied to hschram's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
There are many on the 14-19 non GCSEs approved qualification list. Has your head read anything recently that says differently? -
Haha, I did the same thing! Looked for it everywhere apart from the one place I knew it would be!
-
No problem!

Hi, you can see it in annex C in the following more recent guidance than the one I mentioned previously. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/456438/Progress_8_school_performance_measure_2015_updated_August_2015.pdf
-
Progress 8 uses Maths and Reading SATs as mentioned in the guidance released in March.
-
Wouldn't it be better running a report from start of term to see how many points that term rather than deleting historical points? You never know if you need to refer to previous behaviour.
-
On the NCA tools website. Pupil results at top after login.
-
DM in Grimsby here. Pop to Skegness every now and then too.
-
The course will remain inactive while there are no active memberships. You need to untick auto update class links and membership. Manually assign the students or classes with results, save and the do your linking to exams.
-
A candidate statement of results run from exams organiser will include manually entered results, at the bottom of the statement. When viewing results in sims via the students profile, I've had some manual entries show and some not show. There may be a patch I need or something but I've never bothered with a solution as I only ever export results and statements from exams organiser.
-
Before would be ideal. Any grades entered manually pre summer release will be deleted from the database when you upgrade. This isn't the norm but the result of some significant changes to exams organiser that comes with the summer release. After upgrading, download the permormance measures xml from capita and import it via tools-statutory return tools-import catalogue. There'll be aq new import section under the usual import options. Then in exams organiser edit pi, select all the students who received a pass, select add result and then just enter the QAN of the btec which will fill in the rest of the details for you. just repeat this for every grade (P, M, D, Fail etc) Good luck
-
Can't you just enter them via edit pi in exams organiser? If you've had the summer upgrade and imported the performance measures file, then as long as you have the QAN of your BTEC you can import your results very easily without the basedata.

[sims] Best way to calculate 3 or 4 levels of progress KS2-4 ?
Mirmo replied to ChrisH's topic in MIS Systems
If you'd prefer to keep the calculation in your sims template, just use a nested if then else column. So have a column that works out the point difference between target and KS2, then in the nested column, if point difference equals 13 then progress is 3 levels etc etc. Edit: Oops, I assumed you were using sims. If not then you still know what solution I meant :-) -
Oh, just seen you're from Grimsby too, small world!
-
Hi, to have it populate you need to specify a course link (below group filter) in the template.
-
Think you took it the wrong way. I read it as "This may be a stupid question but have you contacted the LA?"

[sims] SIMS: Additional student information - Assessment Manager 7
Mirmo replied to philserre's topic in MIS Systems
Are you putting anything in the group filter and course link fields? Navigating to the course in course link will ensure the class names appear and linking to the course in group filter will only display students on the marksheet who are studying that course. Without the group filter the class field will be blank if the student isn't on that course. Hope this helps. -
Annoying isn't it? I realy dont understand why they'd create that limitation. Wouldn't be hard for them to program an error message if you mistakenly have two different equivalances applying to the same grade.
-
Hey guys, how is everyone? The one and only problem I'm having with discover was mentioned by BKGarry in this thread and was wondering if anyone has found a solution yet. When setting your equivalents to grade sets, you can only use the grade set once, therefore give all the grades the same value. Well we all know a D1 btec grade is worth one GCSE but a D2 is worth two. Yet we can't set two grade value definitions using the same grade set! A conundrum!!

Amen to individual reports included!

Hi, I had this exact same problem. The only workaround I managed to come up with was to copy the software to the local drive, desktop or whatever, and change the install executable properties to run in compatibility mode (XP SP3). It then installed and ran fine. I haven't tried deploying to Win7's in this mode as I only needed to install on one machine for imaging purposes. Hope it helps.
