Hey Everyone,

Just wondering what others do with the Microsoft store on their devices, do you block the store or completely uninstall it?

I have tried both but found uninstalling more consistent for blocking user installs, however I know its not a "supported" method.

Blocked by GPO for everyone except admins and disallowed by applocker to prevent running at all.

We ran into an issue last year where, because the store takes a few seconds to figure out that it's blocked by GPO, if the user is quick enough they can browse the store on a web browser and find what they want to install, then get it to take them to the app store page, tell it to install and quickly close it before it has a chance to lock out. The application will still install in the background, regardless of user installation permissions.

Does this block users from installing from Apps.Microsoft.com?

I believe so, but might have to test now. As far as I recall, apps.microsoft.com takes allows the user to either download the package (blocked by FSRM) or open the local app store page to install from there.

Blocked completely for studentts here. Staff are allowed however which apps they may install are restricted via applocker. Specific apps are allowed through as and when required
