Alastairb25 Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 (edited) Hi, We have some Staff who use Youtube extensively They are in a Group to allow this We are using the Azure wagent-4.2.17.17 For some very specific users it seems to default back to Student We have explained this is somewhat by design, ie most restrictive and for safeguarding reasons Has anyone had similar or Know it what situation the wagent fails to identify a user We have calls open with SBB as well TIA Alastair Edited February 11, 2025 by Alastairb25
Steve101 Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Yes, just today I have had a few staff experience the same. It's when the agent can't verify the user, I've checked and the users my end have disappeared from our filtering policies. I don't know what SBB are doing, I thought it was just us.
snagrat Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Oh same problem here as well. I thought it was just us as well
Jawloms Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Yep, saw this yesterday but a log off/on solved it.
Fawthrop Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 We've been able to fix it without logging in and out by closing the WAgent.exe in task manager Gives it a 'faster' fix than the whole restarting. 1
Frodo_Baggins Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Anyone use Azure AD sync? Seems like the issues last week have had a knock-on effect and paused our sync last Friday (or at least that's the reason I've been given for this same issue)

whartomt01 Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 same here with Local AD agent. restart wagent service. Very annoying for staff and IT

sigma Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 (edited) SBB are aware of the problem and there is an item in the Status Portal to reflect it, though it doesn't actually describe the problem symptoms as customers see them. Edited February 11, 2025 by sigma
Alastairb25 Posted February 11, 2025 Author Posted February 11, 2025 I do have some sympathy here as it is presumably intended to "fail safe", i.e. in any event won`t work exactly as intended. It defaults to most restrictive Its first job is to safeguard and filter, Youtube is surely always secondary to its primary function 1
Fawthrop Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Closing wagent, service then restarts ? Not too sure if the service restarts, but for us when we close the WAgent down it automatically restarts and looks as though it kicks itself into the right policy group afterwards. 1
Alastairb25 Posted February 12, 2025 Author Posted February 12, 2025 Seems to be all Student filtering, confirmed via phone call from circa 0915 to now Does anyone here have a separate connection and filter as a backup? Thanks
