Action 1 Endpoint Management

Evening all,

 

Sat here evaluating the free (0-100 endpoints) version of Action 1. Seems really good and ideal for our 80 remote staff laptops that often do not arrive in school. Seems similar to PDQDeploy and PDQInventory (maybe even PDQ Connect).

 

So - has anyone used this management software? I need something to monitor the remote devices. We have both PDQ applications running in school.

 

Waiting for a quote to come through and if it's reasonable I might consider it instead of the PDQ offerings.

 

Options appreciated.

Can't fault Action1!

 

I have been using it for about 1.5 years to manage 50 windows devices so currently still on the free tier. It's full of features, and it keeps growing. They are constantly adding more tools and services.

 

Support are very helpful too.

Excellent - I'm looking now, but for some reason it hasn't picked up the two desktops on my network. Guess that would be the firewall.

They do use a funny TCP port. That was my only concern for when the device goes to a different network outside my control

Yes, there are a few firewall rules/ports that need opening on your network. Have a look at this guide - https://www.action1.com/documentation/firewall-configuration/

Use PDQ Connect here since September, absolutely love it. I believe Action1 is a more mature product, however PDQ have been bringing out solid updates and have a good roadmap. Pricing available on their website.

I think Action 1 will be out of our price range above 100 devices - but for the remote staff laptops it's going to be fine. Just got to sort out the LEA firewall.
