Danny11717 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Hi, I have recently started working in the private school sector and realised that they were using an on premises asset management that runs on linux. Now I have no problems learning new systems and dealing with IT in general but because this is a Google school I would rather have only Google and Windows on premises rather than having loads of different OS on site and managing all of it in house if cloud can make my life a little more easier. Has anyone got a really good cloud asset management platform so that we can easily log all assets in the platform and keep track of hardware so I can happily decomission this linux server?
TheHyperTechie Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I have used a couple. Snipe-IT hosted locally on a server (on-site) and Civica Parago which is what we use now, accessible through a web browser. Both did a good job, but Snipe-IT was free. Snipe-IT do offer an option for them to host your instance, so you could look into that as an option?
jthompson Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 We used self-hosted GLPI, but they do offer a paid hosted solution. Their costs for that are partly based on the number of assets, which makes in unfeasable for us. YMMV. With the Windows agent you get about as must inventory detail as you could ever need.
