So we are moving to bromcom…..

Looking at the email options

Set your own smtp service or use theirs, which you have to pay for

Tonight I’ve been trying to get this to work however not having much look I think partly this is due to the new security measures in place from MS

Is there any other recommendations that people use for the emailing from the MIS

You can still use exchange online (for now, until Aug 2025)

I've heard some people mention SMTP2GO - honestly though i'm just going to buy into Bromcoms SMTP service when the time comes, it's not too badly priced.-

Are you trying to email using Exchange Online?

Have you enabled SMTP on your chosen mailbox?

Yea I’ve enabled the smtp auth on the mailbox but I read something about that if it’s disabled for the organisation then enabling it on the mailbox wont make a difference, will double check again tomorrow.

Since Microsoft's change to OAuth, our M365 SMTP stopped working. After some troubleshooting, I wasn't able to get it sorted and the school needed to continue to email, so a decision was made to purchase Bromcom's email service. It's been working fine and while free is cheaper, it's not the worst costing.

TBH, I'd use Bromcom's SMTP. It's free up to 3,000 emails a month and the prices after that are okay compared to other bulk-sending services (assuming that going over 3k emails a month to parents means you're doing whole school mail-shots).

Good choice, it works very well and doesn't cost much. Well worth it in my opinion.

We had no choice but to pay Bromcom to do it. We originally had it all setup and worked fine through our Exchange server... then we did the upgrade and it stopped working. Couldn't figure it out... Bromcom won't help and the information they provide on their website is very basic.

I even tried asking for help here and everyone just said - 'you're stupid just use Bromcom'.

Well if they supported proper auth then I don’t think it would be an issue.

we use Access IT Library software and we use office 365 to send our emails through this to parents no issue !

So why they can’t do it I don’t understand…..oh wait yes I do it’s because they know schools won’t have a choice….

And having to lower security authentication to make something like this work is a joke!
