themightymrp Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Anybody out there in the Yorkshire region using Class Charts with Bromcom? We had a demo of Class Charts yesterday to SLT and we'd like to know more from people with experience of how well it works alongside the Bromcom MIS. Also, anybody got any feedback on the software as a whole? Good or bad. Thanks
DODICT Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Class charts is decent enough product but generally dont see the value add if you have a half decent cloud mis ? Especially when you look at the automations and escalations you can build in Bromcom it generally allows you to get a lot more from your behaviour data with less effort ? Is there a two way sync with Bromcom as if not I'd really suggest silo'ing off your behaviour data from attendance, attainment etc is overall a worse situation to be in. What is it you like about CC that you cant get directly within your MIS ? I have see lots of people move away from CC and despite liking it having their data consolidated in the MIS was the overall better scenario and provides a rationalised experience for both staff and parents etc. Its generally well liked but increasingly most use cases can be served in the MIS and so the VFM argument is a tough one when considering the big picture. 1
themightymrp Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 In all honestly it's our new Headteacher who wants to implement it as they had it at their previous school. Personally I don't think it's required, we just need to make better use of the features within Bromcom. But then I'm not a teacher so can't comment too much on what they do with it. Your comments are interesting though and I'll share them with relevant parties
PotNoodleTech Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 (edited) Well classcharts had a data breech and pretended it didnt happen so if that's what you want your data to be treated like then yeh go for it. Otherwise just use bromcom. Classcharts is only really useful for SIMS schools as SIMS hasnt got anything modern in it - but Bromcom has most of that built in so why do you need classcharts? 3s-gtech Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 We use it because our MIS is SIMS which has all of the modern features and integrations of a mangle with drying rack. With a proper cloud MIS already, it seems like a fantastic way to waste money... 1

Bromcom_Darren Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Anybody out there in the Yorkshire region using Class Charts with Bromcom? Thanks Darren 1
DODICT Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 (edited) Not easy conversation but try to establish the intended outcome then what class charts does to support that. I’d be confident bromcom can support those aims - the automations and escalations, notifications, - auto detentions etc all can really help you leverage your behaviour data in powerful ways. Class charts seating planning is probably a little more polished but rarely have I seen anyone justify the expense and offset the downsides of having a separate system. I’d be taking Darren up on his offer and get a showcase of what the potential is in your MIS before making a decision. Edited September 18, 2024 by DODICT

Will give you a shout tomorrow. 1
DrCheese Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 We're a SIMS school that uses Classcharts currently. We *only* use Classcharts to fill SIMS weakspots. We're in the process of moving to Bromcom and one of the biggest drivers to move is getting rid of all the extra systems we buy in to get around SIMS shortcomings. Think you'd be duplicating systems if you went with Classcharts.

Think you'd be duplicating systems if you went with Classcharts.I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. We still have Parents Evening System, SchoolBooking.com, Sisra, TA-Timetabler and about to proceed with ClassCharts because Bromcom seating planner is too basic, we tried to get behaviour to work as we wanted it to in Bromcom but it's too clunky and i think parents will be using the ClassCharts Parent app instead of MCAS.
drutt Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 We killed all our third-party stuff and dived head first into using Bromcom for it all, yeah it's not perfect but it's always improving and has saved us a decent amount per year when you cut out all those third-party fees. Only real thing we're missing right now is a reward store integrated within Bromcom so we can more directly spend behaviour points. We had ClassCharts, ParentMail, ParentsEveningBooking. Feels like wasting public money to keep any of these with a cloud MIS.
