First day back, what has, or is, going to break?

To be fair, it was SIMS that made the unannounced change. I'm not sure Inventry are responsible for that, when they're also supporting other systems that could also break because one developer made a major update and didn't inform everyone else...

Not paying people is a good way to get their attention, being able to pay anyone you like to fix the problem is a great solution though.

 

What broke? Xporter, terrible software. Apparently CPOMS can use Wonde, but their contract says they have to offer xporter to you.

What has, or is, going to break you say?

 

Over the summer holiday I moved all hybrid joined devices to Entra only, everything looks a bit different, staff only desktop shortcuts had to be moved into a managed bookmark folder in Edge and also to a Staff Favourites tab in Teams. I sent out emails to all staff informing them of the upcoming changes during the previous term. Realising that all staff would ignore those emails I devised a cunning plan which involved printing instructions with pictures on a sheet of A4 paper and leaving a copy on every keyboard.

 

Here we are a few weeks later and everything is just working *

Pupils are logging in and completely dealing with the new system.

Staff are logging in and are mainly dealing with the new system.

All staff (except about 3 or 4 of them) have been able to find and use the new managed bookmarks folder.

The only support calls I'm getting are for sensible, minor problems **

 

 

 

 

* Yes I fully appreciate that this is self defeating, rest assured that a small alter has been created with joss sticks burning and small children have been sacrificed to whatever deity might be paying attention.

** I am slightly disturbed by this and am fully expecting the sky to fall but so far it hasn't.

I (and possibly we) demand to know the specific incantations known to recreate this phenomenon. Does it have to be a ginger child? Any flavour jossticks?
