I notice our Windows 11 (hybrid joined) PCs have change the sign out option so its now Click the user name, then the '...' and then Sign Out (and the 'Manage my account option has appeared as well)

Is there any way to revert this back to the simple options, as people are already complaining, and in a way I agree its less obvious than before and an unnecessary extra step?

I agree, ours it is not even working at all. the new account management doesn't appear and when you click on user name, it just does nothing, disappears. Not sure what is wrong. Frustrating that it was buried in June 25 optional update release notes and not in August release notes too.

I wonder if this latest update to ruin the start menu experience is also responsible for removing the 'Pin to start' option in the context menu - previously I could pin anything to the pinned list, now it only appears for seemingly random items!

The original setup worked fine, I wish they'd stop messing around with it

I wasn't going to bother specifying users' pinned Start Menu items in Windows 11, especially now there's not a supported route to do it via Group Policy, but I ended up doing a rush job of one yesterday, just to make sure that all users have a very visible log off option in their Start Menu.

Because of course, it's more important that users have a direct link into their account management settings when they go to log off.... rather than access to the sign out button!

After installing the September 2024 update, my Windows 11 Start menu appears to have reverted back, with the lock/sign out/switch options immediately available from clicking the user name rather than hidden within the annoying account panel.

Anyone else noticed this?

EDIT:

Yep, definitely a change from August (22631.4037) to September (22631.4169) patches.

That's weird. Exact same build number here, I applied the September update, but still stuck with the rubbish log off option.

Yes, it is fixed the logoff option for us. After August update the startupexperiencehost would crash each time you clicked on user name. Again NO mention of anything in release notes, thank you Microsoft for your DETAIL work!

Perhaps some A/B testing going on?

Or maybe a different SKU. Ours is Education.

Our is Enterprise - English International - if that makes any difference. It shouldn't do, but you never know!
