garethEds Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Good afternoon, Whilst we are waiting for our MFD/PaperCut support contract to renew (change suppliers etc) I've had a problem brought to me that I need help with. Users cannot print from Word Online. I am aware Word Online turns the file into a pdf, but then nothing happens. It doesn't even reach the printer queue. Checking the logs..... nothing in the logs. Downloading the file into 'Full' Word lets the user print. I feel I'm missing something obvious here, but cannot see what. Any help appreciated, Gareth
psydii Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 After Word online turns it into a PDF, the browser's print dialogue appears, or not?
garethEds Posted July 2, 2024 Author Posted July 2, 2024 After Word online turns it into a PDF, the browser's print dialogue appears, or not? Yes - that comes up and we can see the printer we are sending too. Just never hits the queue or the logs. GJE
Michael Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 I presume you've tried this in Edge and Chrome? And made sure both are up-to-date.
Scifigirl Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 default PDF reader--- tends to get a bit funny with Adobe Reader. make sure its browser.
dapaulio Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 (edited) Assuming you checked the obvious. Is the device print release? The ip address of the printer matches the print server port? The virtual q as the delegated right to hand the document to the printer? Same with the printer device it is enable for print release? Does it not hit the virtual q? Does it not hit the direct q? I had a similar issue on a specific version of papercut can’t remember which version it was but was a good couple years ago. Are you fully patched to the highest minor level of papercut. Are you eligible for the latest major release? Edited September 10, 2024 by dapaulio
pklump Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 I assume that printing from non-web applications works correctly. if that's the case: another thing to check when printing from web browsers is that you're using the print dialog settings from the operating system and not the one from the browser. I know that Firefox and Chrome will start their own print dialog by default (I'm on a Mac, so I can't readily check if Edge has its own print dialog box right now. I always bypass that and use the print dialog from the OS as that seems to be a more reliable means of printing.
