Hi all! First time posting but need some advice.

We want to get Rekordbox on all of our Macs, we're currently using Jamf School to distribute any software but it looks as though Rekordbox doesn't appreciate that so much and instead gives an .exe file to use to download it.

With how tedious and long of a process it'd be to download it individually on every machine, is there any way using jamf to have this download on all devices instead of having to do it one by one?

Thanks all!

I'm the IT,

The .zip file they have on their original download site had a folder for MacOS, but that too just included an .exe, got in touch with them and they only told me that the only install they have for Mac was that same file.

I'm very VERY new to Macs, so when I've put the .pkg into Jamf to download, when we try and open Rekordbox, it says we need to install rosetta. Do I need to do this individually or is there a way through Jamf School that I can get all Macs to download rosetta through a profile or script?

This command will install rosetta, we have it run as our first policy when building Mac's in JAMF Pro. "/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license"

For Jamf School, how would you set the order of installation for devices? do you have smart groups that will automatically enroll the devices first, then manually add the device into a different one afterwards?

The help we've had from Jamf themselves setting up has been quite minimal and we had to brute force our way into getting the Macs working correctly with Jamf, so apologies if this is a stupid question!

Rekordbox have cocked up. Edit: it's extremely obtuse. It may be that you can't download the Mac version on Windows through a browser, so try it on a Mac. Edited by 3s-gtech

I'm not sure if JAMF School is the same as JAMF Pro, but it does the Mac Polices in name order, so special characters like * get done first. So I have a policy called *Install Rosetta to make sure its on before any apps the require it start installing.

That should be there in the main download link (or, you know, have links for Mac and Windows versions that aren’t zips). Someone there is using their elbow to go to the toilet.

Tried running the script but it doesn't look like it worked,

There is a setting in Jamf School with auto enrollment that will download rosetta 2 automatically, I just dont want to have to re-enroll all my devices again

Using the script that 2ilent8cho posted further up ("/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license"), and waiting 40 minutes for the script to leave 'Pending' it seems that Rosetta finally installed on each device for Rekordbox.

Alongside finding that Jamf will automatically install Rosetta for you if you turn the setting on in auto-enrollment, which could have saved the hassle a while back if I knew that it was a thing!

Thanks all
