Simcfc73 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Hi, I've read that the auto negotiate is a little temperamental on the Aggregation switches. I've managed to set a couple as 10Gb by forcing it but I've just tried another one and its killed my network and I can't see most of the switches... they must be working as I can see devices on the LAN. I should have put a redundancy link in when I started so this didn't happen. Anyone had the same issue? 1

Simcfc73 Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 I've bought all Unifi ones. I've had a major disaster this morning and had to reset loads of switches to get people on. I've linked a couple of switches with copper too as the agg switch didn't link them.

Ah, good to know - we're looking at upgrading our switching this summer, currently planning on Ubiquiti core and edge switches, this is something we need to look into in further detail first.
Simcfc73 Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 Its a start and unbelievably more speedy than last week.. no ones in though. I can't get the long distance ones to work. I bought these UACC-OM-MM-10G-D-2 but its syaing loss of signal when I connect.. The standard 1G ones work ok.

hallb15 Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I have two buildings connected via two US-16-XG switches, with ports 1-4 aggregated to give a 40Gb connection. I'm using UF-MM-10G modules. If I recall correctly, I set each one up individually and manually set to 10Gb first before aggregating. The other switches in the same cabinets are all connected using unifi UDC direct attach copper cables and are at 10Gb. I have these all set to manual and 10Gb. I didn't experience any loss of connectivity. I'm sorry this isn't much help to you, but at least you know it is possible.

Chris_Cook Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Its possible its OM1 or older with a larger core diameter than OM2. You will get loss of signal if you don't match the core diameter. If the side of the cable isn't labeled, then it is unlikely to even meet OM1 standards. OM1 is 62.5/125 micron OM2+ is 50/125 micron

I've got a shorter link I might try tomorrow and see if that does it.. I know thats only OM2 as I had it installed. The longer building link runs under a driveway in a conduit and has a pull cord still in to so might look at upgrading sometime in the future.
