Spotify vs Amazon Music

I love using Spotify, but hate having to pay for it - and rarely do. I recently thought that a Prime sub is both cheaper and has the added delivery and video benefits. Anyone tried both and can comment?

 

I actually play my "Discover Weekly" and "Release Radar" on Spotify every week and have been introduced to some great music. Does Amazon do anything similar? What about the year end "Wrapped"? Are there any limitations (apart from sound quality) with the "included" tier compared to the "pay us even more" tier? Is the Prime Video the "ad-free version, or is that at extra cost?

I have not used Amazon, so following, but I too like the dynamic playlists spotify has. Apple music isnt bad as well (kids have that) and it does have lossless at least.

I am going to throw a curveball out there but as someone who has used Spotify and Amazon (Not as much I must say!). I have quite enjoyed using Tidal.

 

It creates about 7 daily mixes for you which all vary in genre of music most of the time and it is based off of what music you have listened to previously.

 

It also has a 'My daily discovery' which is a playlist updated daily with 5 songs that you potentially would like based on your listening history.

 

The only thing I miss from Spotify is the Wrapped feature at the end of the year - But Tidal does tally up how many times you listen to a artist each month and generates a 'My most listened artists' leaderboard each month.

 

All in all I enjoy using Tidal over Spotify, Amazon etc and for £10.99 a month I find it is definitely worth it

Amazon prime (which includes some music) and Amazon music (spotify equivalent) are 2 different things. Prime gives you access to some but not a full catalog of music. I'm not sure what other restrictions there are.

 

I used to have Prime and Amazon music, as it integrates nicely with the echos, but got told by my teenage children that spotify was better, so changed to the family plan on that. The echo's now play from amazon (prime) sometimes and spotify at others.

 

The prime video included with prime has add, no adds is i think £2.99 more per month.

"Standard" Prime Video comes with ads now - have to upgrade to be ad free.

Prime music is lackluster - no where near as good as spotify etc.

 

I mean I already need prime for my parcels so it's better than nothing for me - but I wouldn't purposefully pay for it.

Hmmm... currently cheaper than Spotify, too. Plus they have an album from one of my artists that they've forgotten to release to Spotify. Might have a free trial over the summer hols.
