Sad news - Ian Lavender - AKA Pike has passed away

When I was a young child, whenever Dad's Army came onto the TV and my grandparents were round or we were at theirs, it always used to be a favourite game of my nanny to say "He's dead", "He's dead" whenever the credits came on. At this point, it was only Clive Dunn, Ian Lavender and Bill Pertwee left so there were more "He's dead" then "He's not dead". They're all gone now :(

77 is no age either, such a shame :(

My immediate thought was:-

At the pearly gates, Capt Mainwairing saying "Don't tell him Pike"

I see from the internet that I'm not the only one.

Sort of step-uncle by marriage was a BBC director; had something to do with DA, and Lavender was a friend of his.
