Storm Henk, everyone OK?

Just making sure that our more southerly members are ok after last nights storm. Or are the roofs off your schools and your sever room flooded?

*For once, we in the north escaped the foul weather (it was a rather still, mild evening here in Preston), and I didn't even realise there was a storm until this morning and looking at the news.

It was quite blustery! Few trees down the river was very high school looks ok not found any swimming pools yet on my walkaround!!

We had to make about 4 diversions on the way home from visiting family due to fallen trees or flooded roads going from Essex to Suffolk (mostly on the backroads as I hate the monotony of motorway driving, so pretty much my fault). One tree looked like it had narrowly missed hitting a nearby house.

I had to detour on my way home due to a tree on the road. Fortunately I know the minor roads well as I have cycled most of them. Also have to retrieve patio furniture from around the garden for the second time within the last couple of weeks.

Looks like we had a very brief power cut at our central site (enough to kill my desktop I remote to sometimes) but other than that, all good here.

 

Don't think we even really had much flooding (we get a lot of it on the roads around here now it seems) - usually causes a field to drop all its potatoes and mud on the A358. Not heard any reports of things being blown down either.

Not like that. We get the occasional strong winds that will take up a fence panel or 2 and tip the bins over if they aren't too full. It's rare to see trees brought down. Having said that, I'm about 50 miles inland, I'd imagine the coastline fares a little worse for these things.

We had to repair the mud trench and barrier we dug in the field behind us to deep the water flowing down the field rather than into our garden that we dug in October. The ditch reached capacity but did not breach this time. The field behind still has a pond at the bottom that we’ve never seen before that has stayed for over 2 months now.

We had hours and hours of rain yesterday, water table is maxed out in Lincolnshire. Just over the River on the northbank to us there was some flooding and I know parts of Lincolnshire were hit but no wind, we had that the other night.

 

This morning it's not too bad, wouldn't even tell it rained except in a few places where there is no where for the water to go.

Plenty of trees down in Surrey, in part due to the saturated soil. Flooding is likely to be causing more damage than the trees though.

We lost some guttering which is beyond the reach of our long ladder. Quite possibly going to require a scaffolding tower

 

Sainsbury’s car park is starting to become part of the River Medway (but at least it’s stopping the town centre flooding)

My shed fell over. My own fault, I hadn't secured it to the base properly as we are intending to move it. Picked it up and put back in, though there is now a hole in the plastic roof

Pretty much the same around here regarding the water table. I think it's rained at least once each day for the past three weeks. Everywhere is sodden and with no capacity for it to retain more.

We did. We've made a permanent (concrete kerbing) cut from the ditch to the road as a divert from the garden plus other barriers installed to divert water away from low bi-fold doors that October's flood were lapping around, plus earthworks in the field (not ours) of the kind that you might have built as a kid on the beach.

 

We had to have the transformer that serves our house changed before Christmas, and the UK Power Networks equipment got stuck in mud in the field for over an hour before it could even get to the electricity pole its mounted on.

 

We were very lucky. There were other staff that unfortuanately had their homes properly flooded back in October.

One river was about to burst it's banks near my house (I'm away up the hill though, so...). Tesco car park was flooded and the other end of town stank of sewage this morning.
