Stupid rules on coat wearing

I can see "no ear rings", and "long hair tied back" type rules. Definitely in practical subjects & PE. Boys & girls!

 

Absolutely. Especially my sons (now deceased. RIP) mullet!

But that’s practical health and safety. PE, DT etc.

 

Not sure the ball, the drill or the saw cares whether the hair is blue, pink, blond or brown though!

I liked wearing uniform, but "it has to be branded" or "you must get it from this supplier" reeks of someone getting a kickback. We should be encouraging reuse and reducing waste. Uniforms should be able to be passed down to siblings/other new pupils, and students shouldn't be advertising billboards for your school

 

Are there any schools left that don't let girls wear trousers?

When I was at secondary school, the uniform was black shoes, black socks, black trousers, white shirt, school tie and blazer.

 

If anyone wasn't wearing black socks, then the school would give them a pair of black socks to wear. Im sure many parents told their children to wear coloured socks to get free socks! Nobody was punished for the socks but if we didnt have shoes, tie and blazer then it'll be a dentention.

 

There is a private school in the town I live in which has buildings over the town centre, the students have to wear full uniform whilst walking between which is brown shoes, brown trousers, blue shirt. school tie and a black/red striped blazer with a cream wide brimmed hat with school colours on the band. They also have school branded coats for winter!

 

I have seen some of the younger years wearing a slightly different uniform so maybe they are changing it up.

 

The thing that bothered me was the staff 'uniform' in all the schools I worked at. Females got away with wearing anything whilst I had to wear trousers, shirt and tie at all times. But Im no longer working in a school and can wear what i like at all times

Our dress code is men - shirt and tie, smart shoes (not that it’s enforced)

Women - clothed to some degree

Yes, but safety rules should be present only when there is a hazard to mitigate.

Having long hair that isn't in a ponytail/bun/etc isn't an exceptional risk in most circumstances, neither is jewellery.

Therefore these rules belong not in the dress code, but the workshop/PE/etc class.

Long hair tied back does help reduce nits.
