We have just replaced the very poor & flawed Inventry system with SignInApp.

Its much better than Inventry (and cheaper) but I have one issue.

For example,

A student signs out at 2pm for a Medical appointment, at this point an M gets written to SIMS.

The student returns at 2:30pm (I know Doctors appointments are never this quick!) and signed back in.

SignIn App will write back a U by default and apparently there is no way to change this.

I just wondered how other SignIn App users are handling students signing out for 30mins and then back in again.

Thanks

Not really an answer for this, but you have probably just tipped me from moving from Inventry over to sign in app, both products now work out roughly the same cost over 3 years so its better the devil you know.

I believe our reception team are just manually overwriting any issues like this. I know that we queried some things with Sign-In and they said for our MIS it can write late times in but can't write times out which was annoying.

I think we can adapt, what is annoying with overwrite in Bromcom is, we may have been aware of an appointment for months, we add the marks and also a comment so we know why they are away. If we do use overight it loses the comments,

Only thing Inventry did well is allow you to select which marks to import and not to automatically import and overwrite.

This issue is exactly why we ended up not using the student sign in part of the system. The risk of wrong marks in the register was too high, so students all sign in manually still.

Thanks for that

Its just getting that balance correct, or getting the office to add anyone leaving on bromcom.

Got a few demo's this week of some of the others, so hopefully see if there are any differences.

Hi - bit late to this thread as someone at school has just mentioned tentatively looking at Sign-in app.

The write-back issues described here could be a problem with our set-up; can anyone confirm if they apply to Arbor as well as Bromcom?

Hi @njreynolds

My name is Gary and I am the Senior Product Manager at Sign In App. Apologies for the late reply to this post, but we've only recently joined the forum.

It would be great to work with you to get this solved. I'll send you a PM so we can chat through it in more detail.

Thanks

Sign In App now have the ability to protect any attendance codes from being overwritten. In the example where a pupil has an 'M' mark due to an authorised medical appointment, when configured, we detect this when the pupil later signs in and prevent the code being replaced by 'L' or 'U'.

We also have an option for custom writeback codes based on the answer to a question (for example: Reason for being late or :Reason for leaving early)

Anyone who would like to know more or have this configured, please reach out to our support team.
