Multiview of the evolving situation in Reykjanes. The town of Grindavík has been evacuated after magma intrusion was identified possibly reaching under it.

Watching the live feed this morning, 5Foot2 and I saw camera shake on two cameras a couple of times in a few minutes (another shake as I create this post) Two top right cameras.

Should have been watching on Friday night, they were shaking quite a bit as over 900 earthquakes in 12 hours was quite impressive!

Nothing has popped up on the quakes list for that region - It's possibly just windy!

Top of a mountain in Iceland is likely to be windy (as well as prone to quakes).

The 3,700 residents of Grindavík — a town on the south coast of the Reykjanes peninsula —were ordered to evacuate on November 10, 2023, as an intense earthquake swarm accompanied the formation of a lava dyke stretching beneath the town.

 

Grapevine publisher Jón Trausti Sigurðarson's parents are among the evacuees. He and Grapevine videographer Art Bicnick accompanied Jón's parents, Laufey Jónsdóttir and Sigurður Leósson, back to their home on Nov. 13 to collect more belongings they left behind last week.

They have been moving/changing the camera views quite a lot - it seems more so since the eruptions started. Bottom left is panning right as I type this reply.

 

They seem to have removed the camera labels/descriptions, but I'm guessing that top left and bottom left are the same cameras as the initial feed. I think top right me also be the same camera but turned or zoomed.

65 events reported in the last hour (at the time of posting) although I have seen it as high as 81 events in the previous hour around 8:00 am.

The Icelandic Meteorological Office's scientists continue to assess that it is unlikely sufficient pressure will build up to trigger an eruption in November. One factor supporting this conclusion is the low seismic activity measured in the area. If the rate of uplift in Svartsengi changes or if there is a significant increase in seismic activity, this assessment will be revised accordingly.

Well modern meteorlogical offices cant figure out if there are clouds in the sky or not noawadays so doesnt suprise me they can't predect a volcano errupting

Passengers have filmed lava floes and smoke as their plane passed over a volcano on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula.

 

It was erupting for the seventh time in less than a year. Down below, the car park at Iceland's world-famous Blue Lagoon was engulfed in lava.

 

Hotel guests and nearby homes were evacuated but authorities said there was no threat to air travel in the region.

 

Prior to 2021 the Reykjanes Peninsula had not seen volcanic activity in 800 years.

 

Seismologist say a long-dormant fault line lying under the landscape has reawakened.
