November 7th is/was N7 day and we got a load of small clips from the upcoming Mass Effect game that stitched together to show... someone walking down a corridor.

at least the teaser from 2 years ago was a bit more inspiring!

There is so much scope and opportunity in the Mass Effect universe for more games, or TV shows and films. It's a shame it's been dormant for so long.

I didn't even think Mass Effect: Andromeda was that bad - The gameplay was there, even if the animation and performance could be a little lacking at times.

I agree. MEA has great gameplay, and the story was pretty good, if not quite what we were originally sold (I was hoping for more "first human/Milky Way person to see this" type exploration than we got).

I think the "problem" is to do anything post ME3 you probably have to cannonise on the of the endings. Not that there isn't plenty of scope to do stuff set before the OG trilogy.

It will be interesting to see how the new game tackles that, I'm kind of hoping they can pull something like Deus Ex Invisible War, where they keep you guessing with different things hinting toward different endings.

I also liked Andromeda, the gameplay was much better. I love the mass effects but it felt quite restricting whereas the more free roam and fluid combat felt much better to play and experience in andromeda.

Well the second tease above seems to suggest that Liara is looking for a lost Shepherd, and doesn't seem to suggest that Synthesis happened which narrows things down.

I'd love to see a big budget TV show as long as Shepherd doesn't choose to wipe out all inorganic life, which just doesn't sit right with me. Plus I love the music I got when I made my choice (which doesn't seem to fit with "Destroy").

A problem that might rear it's head with an adaptation would be "My Shep was male/female/gay/romanced /renegade/whatever". I personally think Luke McFarlane (Killjoys, Bros) would make a good Shep.

In my opinion, anything new could be set in the Mass Effect universe in the Milky Way galaxy and not necessarily involve Shepherd. I've always imagined some non-RPG game options set in the Mass Effect universe, like an XCOM-style game fighting off the Reapers. Perhaps you could choose which race to start as - Asari would have biotic special abilities, Turians would be more engineer-based.

Even something like a shooter where you're a member of a non-human race's special forces. There could always be some mention of what's happening elsewhere in the galaxy, but I've always been intrigued by the thought of other perspectives.

I know Bioware have been in a bit of trouble recently, but I feel like the opportunity's just being wasted.

Wasn't Henry Cavell teasing a Mass Effect script a year or so back?

Of course, if you're doing something like a TV show/Film adaptation, the simplest solution is to do a non-Sheppard story, if they must "adapt" something, then there's all the comics and books, or just pick a cool part of the lore go ham. The Skyllian Blitz in the style of Enemy at the Gates would be really cool.

I'd forgotten about HC doing that! He'd do as Shep. I still want to see an adaptation of the main storyline. The other bits can come later if it's a hit, or they could do a "Shadow & Bone" and merge stuff in that people love in case it isn't.

On the game:

Hey, everyone,

Every November 7th, we’ve all come together—developers, superfans, regular fans, kinda-fans—to celebrate (and speculate about!) the games, stories, and community that make Mass Effect so special. It’s a testament to the long-lasting appeal of this universe and the characters who call it home. Eleven years of N7 Days and sixteen years of Mass Effect later, the franchise continues to inspire our development team, and with each day, gives us the opportunity to create more adventures for you to have. Whether it’s one of the many who have been here since the original game’s launch or those recently joining us at BioWare, we are all incredibly lucky to be envisioning this future.

That process is equal parts rewarding and challenging. We’ve asked ourselves many of the same questions you’ve asked us over the years! What happened to everyone you know and love in the games? Who really died? Who had kids with whom? What does a baby volus sound like? What about all the galaxies? The endings! What the heck is going on with our asari scientist-turned-Shadowbroker? What about S— nevermind...you get the idea. And of course, to those questions, there are answers, but you’ll have to wait to hear them. And anything we do say won’t be easy to find, just like you’ve come to expect from our #N7Day teases.

But for real… thank you. Thank you for everything, and allowing us to do what we do. We approach the future of this universe with gratitude and deep respect. Respect for you—the community. Respect for the love and dedication you’ve given to us. Respect for the history and the stories you’ve created, and the characters you’ve fallen in love with. And, respect for the future, and the opportunity to do something big—something amazing—for you.

Until next time…and Happy N7 Day!

—Mike Gamble, Mass Effect Franchise Director & Executive Producer

Also, Mme LeMarchand is going to a "Christmas Shopping Event" tonight. Wonder if I'll have time to fire up ME:LE?

I wonder how those rumours (from 2021 iirc) relate to the subsequent announcement/rumour (can't remember which it was!) about Amazon making a Warhammer TV show with Cavil.

Did the ME rumour turn out to be the Warhammer one?

Is it separate?

Is he doing both?

I dare say, whichever he does will be the first & last time my wife gets excited about either of my hobbies :D

I think the 40k thing is official and progress is being made, but have a sneaking suspicion that HC was more throwing his hat into the ring for Mass Effect. As he's supposed to be one of the producers on 40k and presumably he'll want to be fairly "hands on" I'd be surprised if he has time for ME as well. Plus things seem to be very quiet on the ME show front.
