We're in the process of trialling moving from on-prem to fully in-cloud, using Microsoft Intune.

One of the sticking points is cloud print.

Microsoft Universal Print still doesn't seem competitive, so we're looking at either Printix or Printer Logic.

Printer Logic don't appear to be geared up yet for the UK market, unless someone can prove me wrong. Printix we're yet to trial.

I guess I'm after thoughts, experiences and opinions re the joys of cloud print.

Agreed, miles away from Papercut and others, price per print is ridiculous!

Long time Printix user here. Used at two trusts I work for either standalone or with Papercut.

 

We don’t use the Go stuff but use the Kyocera follow me system and that works fine with Printix.

How did you get the follow me print to work with Printix?

The follow me is part of the Kyocera copier not Printix. Printix just allows us to distribute the correct direct settings to ensure the “Print and Follow” works.

I will have to have a look at that... I wonder if it works with Konica Minoltas too. I am guessing you just configure the driver with the relevant settings on a base machine and upload to printix?

Yes you configure the driver and then use Printix to upload the configuration and push to machines

What copiers do you currently have? we use Ricoh cloud print which has worked great so far. Fully integrates with Google/365 and staff can print from anywhere and release via a pin code.

Yeah, I can't fault it really. Basically Ricoh's own version of PaperCut mobility print!

How are you getting on with this? I'm in a similar position as you and looking at various solution's.

Been playing with the Azure Universal Print with Papercut (on Prem), it took about 5 minutes to get set up and printing:

(but we already had per-printer security groups controlling printing locally so we could just re-use those in Azure)

 

Costs don't seem too awful if you have A3/5, we project costs to be around $1800 per annum for our 3.5M pages. There is a cap of 100Mb on a job, but we don't seem to have jobs over 50Mb.

 

*but* it does require an on premesis component (the papercut/legacy print server). Some form on on-prem bridge is required for non-cloud native printers (i.e. almost all of ours).
