Using AI at work

Just a curious question. How many of you are successfully using AI tools like ChatGPT to help you in the workplace? Do you have any examples you don't mind sharing?

Same here. I've used ChatGPT to write some PowerShell and Apps Script functions, which I then generally just use as a starting off point for making something more correct. Stuff like constructing an API request: I get the bot the give me something so that I'm not starting from a completely blank canvas.

 

I've never felt drawn to use it to write any documentation or emails or helpdesk responses, though.

We use AI tools all the time in many areas also - Questionnaires, surveys, general staff/parent engagement as well as many technical questions too as mentioned above- One tip I was given was ask it the worst questions to ask then ask it to rephrase these - it usually does a great job - Another factor is we all have to think of is copyright issues too - especially if publishing externally anywhere (however this is no different from anything else folks do today - just possibly more likely to beg steal or borrow)!

This is what I run into. I ask it a question and it gives a very confident answer but when you go through it usually one or multiple steps are wrong. You then question it and it says something along the lines of "Yes my apologies this isn't possible."

Yeah that's what I like about it the most, it gives you something to work from. Often I'll have a task I need to complete and my mind goes blank sometimes as to where to start and GPT is really useful for getting started.

I've found it to be very useful for certain things, I needed to move DNS providers into Azure, I threw the current list of entries at it and asked it to output a script for azure.

 

its also been useful for getting to grips with PowerBi, I simply tell it what I want to achieve and how the data is currently formatted and it generally comes up with the right answers.

Had some good luck too but it loves to make up PowerShell commands "Fix-Wifi" was one, I think it must have gotten from someone else's script and inserted into its output

I've been using AI tools like ChatGPT at work for a while now, and I must say, they've been quite the game-changer. One instance that comes to mind is when I had to draft a series of marketing emails for a campaign. Normally, this task would eat up a significant chunk of my time, but with ChatGPT's assistance, I was able to generate compelling copy in a fraction of the time. It not only saved me hours of brainstorming but also helped maintain consistency across all the emails. However, it's not always smooth sailing. But overall, the efficiency and convenience it brings to the table are undeniable. I recently found a custom essay generator and actually liked it. Copilot for M365

- I've found it quite good for taking notes in meetings, letting me knoww the action items after a meeting, etc.

- Quite good at "tell me what I've missed" or "What's the status of Project X" after a few days off.

- Not sure I'd trust it to rewrite content, though it is quite good at making some of my overly-wordy prose more readable on occasion but it needs to be carefully proof-read afterwards if you need technical precision.

- There's a bit of sticker shock - $30/month/person which quickly adds up, though I think its easy to demonstrate more than $1.50 per person per day of value once you start using it.

I use it to draft some comms, just to get me going and have a basis to rewrite.

I use it to generate some images for internal use, banners or presentations, so I don't have to worry about copywrite issues.

I get (non-sensitive) documents distilled or concepts laid out.

 

Not doing anything high level, just to save time and get me started on things.

Haven't found any use cases for it myself - not a powershell expert so I wouldn't trust it enough to run any output it gave me without thoroughly checking it, which would take me more time than just learning the relevant powershell myself!

I tried using Gemini and Chat GTP to summarise several pages of a bullet pointed timeline to one page for circulation to the SLT and they both put actions in the wrong month. I then tested them with some general knowledge question such as who is England most capped football player and which teams have won the Rugby world cup and they got the answers wrong.

 

Since then I have used them for drafting emails but I don't trust them to do anything more
