HP LaserJet 2600n problems

I have 3 2600n's that were moved to our new server where 2 print fine, one prints gibberish.

All 3 use the same driver, all 3 are set up exactly the same with their own IPs all 3 are on the same 2003 server.

 

I have checked and reset the printer setting etc etc and still all I get is gibberish printed out.

 

Any Ideas?

Have you tried updating the firmware?

Hi Chris

I would try printing direct to the printer (from your workstation) and printing via your print server. This would help to narrow the problem down to either the printer or the print server.

what do you mean by saying "gibberish" I dont understand it and the meaning in wikip is not clear to me, would you try and scan a page to see the resulting print out is, before all have you tried to print a test page from the printer, using the printer control panel?? that would be a start, then if the printer is networked have you tried to print from another station?

Do you really not know what gibberish is? It means rubbish, indestinguishable and incoherent symbols.

 

Gibberish is a generic term in English for talking that sounds like speech, but has no actual meaning (such as "ja sun tecumba tapar") or ("la bgud duyier jusrekd"). ...

Wont that change it for each printer tho or does it run 3 seperate instances of the same driver for each printer?

I had exact same problem, you need to upgrade the firmware by putting the printer in flash mode. It also printed gibberish when the ink needed changing.

Turns out the printer was a 2605 not a 2600 and there is a difference
