Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone here was successfully using the Newline Cast app with Smoothwall?

We had 4 Newline TVs installed over summer - the Newline Cast app will only accept local connections on all of them (I assume something is being blocked on Smoothwall).

This is fine on 3 of the devices which allow us to use Airplay to cast as long as its on the same network, however on one device (which I believe is a slightly newer model TT-7520HO) the Newline Cast app defaults to an internal local IP address so we cannot cast even locally.

The device has an internet connection and an IP address on our wireless network - we can download updates, browse the internet etc but it as soon as we open the cast app it tells me the IP address is its own internal one. I have spoken to Newline support and Smoothwall support and at the moment Im not getting anywhere so I am hoping someone here has this working and can point me in the right direction before I go insane

Thanks

Thanks but that is exactly what I have been through with Smoothwall support and they instructed the following:

In order to comply I think the following things needs to be done.

Go to Guardian - web filter - exceptions and add the IP: 51.144.248.56 to the destination exceptions at the bottom. Remember to save.

Then go to Guardian - policy objects - categories and create a new category called 'SaaS providers' and add these domain to the category.

netcheck.joinmontage.com

montage.displaynote.com

xmpp.displaynote.com

stunturn-prod-ireland.displaynote.com

stunturn-prod-mumbai.displaynote.com

stunturn-prod-singapore.displaynote.com

stunturn-prod-virginia.displaynote.com

stunturn-prod-california.displaynote.com

You can enter full text mode and cope paste all these in one go.

Once done, add this new category to a do not filter policy for either everyone or for a policy with the TV IP set as location.

I have followed this and still no luck.

Not currently as the Smoothwall engineer suggested it wasn't necessary. It is on my list of things to try though and I have a support call with them later so hopefully can get it resolved.

Thanks

Turns out I just did something stupid. When creating a static IP for the TVs I needed to expand the subnet so switched from a /21 to a /20 on the DHCP server page in Smoothwall... I did however forget to change it on the network interface so nothing was communicating

Its been a long start to the term
